Our Approach

(01)

Your vision is our north star. We'll help you get there.

Let's chart the course! Every project begins with understanding. We take the time to listen, question, and uncover what truly matters. From there, we design with focus and intent, removing anything that doesn’t serve the goal, and honing in on what resonates with your end-goal.

Our Story

(05)

NorthStar was born from a belief that buildings aren't just spaces, they're stories waiting to be told.

NorthStar was born from a belief that buildings aren't just spaces, they're stories waiting to be told.

Standard architectural renders often present a space accurately but generically—technically correct, yet forgettable. They show what a space looks like without conveying why it matters to the specific person meant to be persuaded by it. This creates a gap: clients end up with visuals that document a design but fail to build the emotional buy-in needed from investors, buyers, tenants, or other stakeholders to actually move a project forward.

What is our Specialized Storytelling service?

The details are what make a space feel personal instead of staged. A family photo, a favorite hobby tucked into a corner, a handwritten note on the counter, a quiet baking scene mid-moment—these small, human touches help clients see themselves in the story of a space, not just its square footage.

Have a target client? We're creative when it comes to lifestyle details.

Subtle nods to lifestyle choices, hobbies, or a demographic make all the difference. Inclusions of historical, artistic, or central pieces help articulate the cultural depth in your research.

Have a challenging vision? We'll help you get there.

We'll bring your concept to life.

We offer 3D modeling to help visualize your idea. When your design team needs a concept visualized, we walk through the process with them, providing the renders needed.

Let's start with the basics.

We can give you both high and low poly models, with the option of creating LODs as well. We offer UV unwrapping, texturing, and shader/material creation.

Getting into the shader/material creation service, We can deliver PBR materials as well as handle raytraced shaders. The right choice for your team entirely depends on your vision, project scope, and budget.

Depending on where you're at in your project's schematic design process, we can help you iron out your vision. Here, during the conceptualization of the Tidewood Retreat project, we worked with blender's geo nodes to offer various versions of a parametric build.

Need a product visualized? we work with you to help create deliverables that serve your needs best.

Too complex to spend budget on hand-modeling? We offer furniture re-creation at no additional charge, taking care to match it as close as possible.

Our Process

(05)

Our process is simple, purposeful, and adaptable.

We utilize a multi-phase process to breakup projects to facilitate feedback. Each phase ensures full transparency with our clients along the whole visualization process and enables us to present our work in a digestible format with every deliverable.

Discover

1

We begin by listening, gaining a deep understanding of your goals, audience, project scope, and challenges through research and conversation.

Previz

2

We start with putting the 2D drawings into 3D, then we set the camera views. Having constructed a basic model of the build, we work with both the camera and the lighting based off your lighting plan or preferences.

Surfaces & Staging

3

The base materials are layed out, and furniture placed. Send us your finish plans, furniture plans, or inspo palettes, and we can apply them. Need a specific piece of furniture modeled, we handle that too! At this stage, layout changes are best received, as it doesn't affect the general timeline as much.

Environment

4

Any exterior elements, like foliage, weather, neighboring buildings etc. will be placed and/or refined further.

Refinement

5

This is the part of the process where the final render really shapes up. Materials are refined if needed, people are placed, narrative scenes are cleaned up... Every detail matters. If you have any last minute changes or revisions, they must take place no later than this stage.

Deliverables

6

Your renders are polished in post production and packaged for sharing and safekeeping. Any additional files agreed in the contract will be included.

1. What kind of clients do you work with?
icon

We strive towards giving your clients memorable experiences, so we work with startups, established firms, and creative teams who value craftsmanship and intentionality.

2. What services do you offer?
icon

Our core services include both exterior and interior renderings, 3D floor plan visualizations, dollhouse renders, 3D modelling, and day-to-night studies. We touch base with you at every major step to ensure consistency and cohesion with your vision in everything we create.

3. How do you price your projects?
icon

We price based on scope, timeline, and deliverables—never by the hour. After a discovery call, we’ll provide a custom proposal aligned with your goals and budget.

4. What is your typical project timeline?
icon

Timelines vary by project complexity, but most 1-3 still render projects take 1–3 weeks, while more advanced projects may range from 4–8 weeks. We’ll always agree on key milestones before starting.

5. How do we handle the common challenges of working with a visualization studio?
icon

We've built our process around the friction points clients typically experience. Communication: we use clear brief templates and chat directly with your team. Consistency: we document your preferences and maintain continuity across deliverables so your brand voice stays intact. Control: real-time visibility into progress with structured check-ins. Confidentiality: NDAs are standard. Pricing: transparent, scoped upfront so no surprise invoices. Deadlines: we commit to timelines we can keep, or it's free.

6. Do you accept one-off design tasks or only full projects?
icon

We typically take on full-scope projects to ensure cohesion and quality. However, if you have a smaller need that aligns with our approach, we’re open to discussing it.

7. How many concepts or revisions are included?
icon

Our process is iterative, collaborative and structured. Rather than presenting dozens of options, we focus on one strong direction—refined through feedback. The number of revisions depends on the scope, but clarity and alignment are our priority from the start.

8. What's different about working with NorthStar?
icon

What we add that others don't: Cultural and historical research that gives your design direction meaning, not just style Narrative reasoning behind every suggestion so you can confidently explain choices to your clients. Creative direction that feels like a knowledgeable colleague, not a vendor awaiting instructions. Working with us should feel like gaining a design partner with deep knowledge, not managing another outsourced relationship.
